The actual building was permitted, briefly, for the first time. The production shot interior tower footage that had never before been allowed on film. The rooftop chase you remember, however, was filmed at a brick-for-brick replica of Independence Hall built in 1966 inside Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, California — because no one was going to risk a stunt fall onto the original cupola.
